MIXED VALENT SEMICONDUCTORS : SmB6
An overview is given of the experimental and theoretical evidence that SmB, is a homogeneously mixed valent semiconductor. It is emphasized that the experimental transport properties imply that the Fermi surface is either extremely small or non-existent, and that rather general theoretical considerations support the possibility of a gap at the Fermi level.

Using the plasma oscillations theory of solids, 2 empirical relations have been proposed for the calculation of the structural properties such as bond-stretching central force constant (α) and bondbending non-central force constant (β) for II-VI and III-V group binary semiconductors. We find that α =D (ћωp) 2 and β = S (ћωp) 2 , where D and S are constants. The numerical values of D and S are r...
متن کاملStructural and Electronic Properties of Chalcopyrite Semiconductors
We have studied the structural and electronic properties of pure, deffect and doped chalcopyrite semiconductors using Density functional theory (DFT) based first principle technique within Tight binding Linear Muffin Tin orbital (TB-LMTO) method. Our calculated structural parameters such as lattice constant, anion displacement parameter(u) in case of pure chalcopyrite and anion displacement par...

The development of the bioengineering field has yield to the apparition of a new application of the Computer-Aided-Design, Bio-CAD, aiming to the use of computer models to represent biological samples and methods to simulate biological processes. In-silico experimentation is a related term referring to experimentation performed also on computer models. One of the in-silico experimentation chall...
